Ongoing Issues with Next Gen Ranger
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the ongoing and unresolved issues I have experienced with my brand-new Ford Ranger 2.0L Bi-Turbo XLT Double Cab, purchased from Ford Bryanston on 25 August 2024.
Since delivery, I have encountered numerous defects and quality issues, which are entirely unacceptable for a new vehicle and raise serious concerns about Ford’s quality control and customer care standards.
These issues include:
1. Factory-fitted tonneau cover that did not fit and had to be replaced.
2. Poor paintwork and finishing under the load bin plastic cover, including visible defects.
3. Rattle at the airbox requiring repair.
4. Faulty steering control unit – replaced.
5. Active oil leak from the turbo – still unresolved.
6. Intermittent knocking or “clucking” noise from the suspension or propshaft – still unresolved despite multiple visits.
While Hein and the Ford Bryanston team have made efforts to assist, the fact remains that the vehicle has now spent more than two months in the workshop within just a few months of ownership. This is unacceptable, especially considering the vehicle is essential for my work and daily responsibilities.
As a consumer, I expect a vehicle that is fit for purpose, free from defects, and of good quality, as outlined in the Consumer Protection Act. I am now formally requesting that Ford South Africa steps in and provides a permanent resolution. If these problems cannot be resolved effectively and immediately, I am requesting a replacement vehicle.
This situation has caused immense inconvenience, stress, and disruption to my life and work. I will not continue to tolerate poor product performance and lack of resolution.
