Never buy Ford

At the beginning of this year I purchased a brand new Ford Fiesta Titanium from Imperial Ford in Cape Town. I have had 7 months of issues with the vehicle and absolutely shocking service from the staff at Ford.

On 4 March 2018, I sent Ford an email about how the leather was pulling back from the seat and the inside foam of the seat was visible. I took the car in for assessment and heard nothing back. When I followed up, I was told that even if they replaced the seat I would still have the same problem. That made absolutely NO sense as it is not okay that the inside of the seat can be seen! The issue with the seat cover had to be escalated to Ford head office and was only resolved 5 MONTHS later! With Ford messing me around and not doing the job properly twice! Both times I had to complain and the vehicle had to be taken in again! The second time the entire seat looked sun damaged and wrinkled. On another occasion I took the vehicle into the workshop as I had been told by head office that a repair had been authorised. However, when I returned in the evening I found that my vehicle had been standing in the workshop all day and no one had done anything on it, because apparently they were not authorised to do any work on the vehicle.

A mechanic there talked to me privately and stated that he may work for Ford but from what he has seen in the workshop he would never purchase one himself.

On the 21 March 2018, I found dead bugs in the speedometer. Yes, actual BUGS! The car had to be taken in twice before Ford managed to fix the problem. Finally I was promised a tank of fuel in return for my poor service at Ford by Ford Head Office and the Ford branch where I had the repairs done refused to give the tank of fuel! It was only after following up multiple times that the fuel was given, but only when the vehicle was taken in for its next issue. On 6 August 2018 something went wrong with the gear stick and I had to take the vehicle in again. I know there was an issue as I had my partner who drives the vehicle regularly also check it out and he said that something wasn’t right with how the gears were changing. The car went into Ford (After I had to follow up on emails not being rep**** to multiple times) and I was told that I was imagining things and that everything was okay. Apparently Ford is not too keen to make repairs when they will be liable for the cost. It is absolutely ridiculous the quality of the vehicle and the service I have received from Ford. I spent a lot of money on buying a new car so that I would not be subject to all the admin problems of repairing a car.

My family and I will NEVER be buying Ford again.
