MAINTENANCE ON FORD BAKKIES

I had an unfortunate incident whereby I lost usage of my ford ranger bakkie through a mechanical failure. I had the bakkie serviced 2 weeks prior and it just stopped functioning one night whilst driving. Reasons for it could not be adequately given by the supplier and only point from them is that the vehicle is past the 200k mark and therefore out of warranty plan. My concern here is are these bakkies only good to drive for 200 000 kms and one should then discard them.
