I Bought a Brand New "FAULTY" Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost Auto Sedan

Hello Peter,

I bought a Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost Sedan Auto as a company vehicle in October 2015 from Kempstor Ford Bluff, in the Durban area. Upon delivery on my ne vehicle, I was relocating to Ladysmith. I bought this vehicle as a company vehicle and needed a reliable vehicle as a tool I require to fullfill my duties as a Sales Consultant and my role requires me to do high millage.

Since relocating to Ladysmith it only made sense to take my vehicle to SENTRACOR Ford Dealership in Ladysmith. After my first service, I noticed my vehicle engine warning light was on and the vehicle started lossing power supp**** by the turbo and to regain the power, I practically had to park the vehicle on the side of the road, switch the vehicle off and restart the vehicle as a temporal measure. I reported this matter to the Ford Dealership in Ladysmith and they asked me to bring my vehicle in to test it. They simply plugged a laptop onto my vehicle, reset what ever faults there were and I was told that my vehicle was fine.

After a few thousand Km, this issue kept on reoccuring and the dealship would repeat the same process. After the 3rd time this happened and I was told by the workshop manager that they do not know what was wrong with my vehicle as they have done what they can, they referred me back to the dealership I bought the vehicle and when I took the vehicle for a service and complained about this issue, their workshop could not find a fault with the vehicle.

The 4th time the engine warning light came on and this happened when I was overtaking a truck and I had no acceleration power as the turbo did not fire, I was forced to evade what could have been an accident by breaking and tried to manouver bak behind the truck and fortunatley an accident was evaded. I was angry as this vehicle was now a hazzard to me and other motorists and took the vehicle back to the Ford Dealership in Ladysmith and after explaining to the Workshop Manager that I no longer wanted this vehicle, he advised that there is nothing he could do to assist but will report this incident to Ford Head Office and they instructed him to change the computer box and replace it with a new one, my vehicle was kept with no courtesy vehicle to allow me to perfom my duties.

After the computer box was replaced I drove the vehicle for a couple of 1000km and the same problem reoccured and I reported the matter to Ford Head Office myself (SA CRC CASE Ford: ********** 17). At first the case was closed because the Case Manager was informed that the vehicle was tested and software was upgraded which was the same thing they did before changing the computer box which did not solve the problem. I had to request for another Case Manager who I was under the impression understood what has been happening to my vehicle and instructed the a new computer box be fitted.

So the computer box has been replaced twice but the problem is still there. Ford Head Office then instructed the Workshop Manager at the Ladysmith Ford Dealership to take my vehicle to an Auto Electrician and the only Auto Electrician the dealership refers their vehicles to is based in Durban. I refused for the dealership to keep my vehicle any longer as the vehicle was kept for 2 days meaning they would have to keep it over the weekend and I will only get my vehicle the following week with no courtesy car. I had to drive my vehicle to Durban to have an Auto Electrician check the wiring.

When I collected my vehicle from the Auto Electrician, he explained that he had reset and also upgraded the vehicle's software and could not find any faults, I was more furious because he had done the same excercise that had been done in the past which was not the solution. I had waisted petrol and my time with no resolution.

As it is my vehicle has now done over 110 000km and I feel that I have been cheated and sold a faulty vehicle and I want my money back which Ford refused to do and they keep on trying to mend the problem at my time and expense. I have also noticed that since this problem has been reoccuring, my fuel consumption has been irregular meaning that since the lack of power, the vehicle has been using more fuel which my Stannic Statements reflects and this tells me that I have had to pay for more fuel that what the vehicle is meant to consume.

I deal with customer for a living and understand how to treat a customer which is the reason that I have been patient for so long hoping that someone at Ford will notice that I have been sold a faulty vehicle and have this vehicle replaced or just pay me my money back and be free once ond for all from this headache of a vehicle, but its seem to be that the main focus is to mend the problem and hope that it will dissapear or I dissapear. They will not admit that I was sold a faulty vehicle that they have failed to fix this problem and I am now fed up!!
