FordSA Bad Service

My ordeal started 02 February 2018 while driving to work, my car a 2015 Ford Focus Ecoboost lost power and a light with message “Engine service now”, I went into Lazarus Ford in Centurion and was told that it was a reminder for service at that time I still had more than 2000km before reaching 60 000km service. I contacted the Midrand branch and they told me to come when the light was on. Later on the same day the light was on again and I went to Midrand and was told the car just needs to be serviced to reset the light. Feedback I was given after service on 08 February 2018 after the car was serviced and I was told all was well no problems were reported to me. On the 16th February 2018 the same light came up and vehicle lost power while I was driving, I drove to Ford Midrand with the light on and showed them. The guy that attended to me at the service centre told me it’s a service reminder and I told him the car has been serviced a week ago. He then said the light is normal on the new Ford settings which I disputed. I referred to the Kuga stories that I don’t want to be a victim, so as a result I’m leaving the car right there until they sort it out. The service manager then asked me to wait for about 30 minutes for them to do a diagnostic test. They checked the car and said they found what the fault is and the car was booked for repairs on 22 February 2018. On collection of the car I was informed that the problem has been fixed and there were no other issues about the car. Rochelle the Service Advisor there advised that the car was reprogrammed as that was the root of the problem. She gave a print out of the diagnosis and she was certain the same won’t happen again and advised that if it happens again the car would have to be RECALLED. She was made aware of the inconvenience of having to return the car to Ford every 2nd week. On 01 March 2018 the same issue started again and the car was booked for repairs on 05 March 2018. On collection of the car I was informed that a part needs to be replaced and there is also a problem with the clutch taking high. I enquired how is it that there is now a problem with the clutch when the car has been to Ford on 3 different occasions for the same problem but there were never clutch problems detected. Which then makes me believe that the fault that Ford has been failing to fix resulted in the clutch problems. It is obvious that the car had a fault that Ford is unable to solve and they keep on making empty promises the fault has now resulted in more damage to the car which I was told that it will cost me R19 326,42 to repair and it is not covered by the warranty. The car was booked in again on 08 march 2018 to replace the “damaged part”. I lodged a formal complaint with their customer service department an Chantel Du Plessis responded on 16 March 2018 by saying they have investigated and the clutch issue is not Ford’s fault. 4 days later I receive an emal from Ford SA notifying me about a safety recall based on the same issues I have been experiencing, and saying the dealer will replace the clutch assembly free of charge. 19 March 2018 the “Engine Service now” light was back on, the problem worse, the vehicle looses power after driving it for less than a kilometre. It was booked it for repairs on 23 March 2018 and nothing was done, I was just told it was inspected and it is part of the recall the part needed will be available on the 3rd quarter of 2018. I asked for a courtesy car as the car looses power while driving which is a risk if it happens and there’s someone driving behind me. I was told I can’t be given a courtesy car till the part arrives. My question was how then is Ford not inconveniencing me if I’m paying for a car that I’m unable to drive? Chantel Du Plessis promised to get back to me on Monday 26 March before COB. Monday she sent an email promising to get back to me by COB on Tuesday, which was the last I heard from anyone at Ford. The problem has gone worse now, the car looses power as I reverse it from the garage, driving it is a nightmare and a ticking timebomb because now it doesn’t drive beyond 80km\h if I try to accelerate it makes a sound like something is about to explode. Easter holidays are here I can’t even be with my family that stays 450km away from me because the car that I bought from Ford is not safe to drive and Ford is running away from taking responsibility of their faulty cars. It’s been close to 2 months of great inconveniences caused by Ford and I have to rely on taxis to get around as Ford refuses to give me a courtesy car that they promised affected when they were buying face in the media.
