Ford Vereeniging does not settle your trade-in in time and leaves you with an installment on a vehicle that they already took possession of.

In the period from the 12th to 16th of January 2018 there were negotiations going on with Ford Vereeeniging about trading my current vehicle on a new vehicle. The contract was prepared and on the 17th of January I went to deliver the trade-in, sign the contract and take possession of the new vehicle. Roughly a week later a noticed the new account reflecting on my bank account, but the trade-in vehicle's account was still active? I did not worry too much as I never had any problems regarding the account of my trade-in vehicle from any dealer. On the 29th of January I received a text message from my banking institution in which the trade-in vehicle settlement was requested. This now caught me off guard as I was under the impression this vehicle should either be settled or in process of being settled. After enquiring at the bank, I learned that the vehicle was not settled and that the instalment would still go off on my account on the scheduled day, due to no or later settlement. When enquiring about this at the dealer they reassured me that the instalment will not go off. They also had lots of excuses for not settling the vehicle's account in time, which has now left me to pay the traded vehicle's instalment 2 weeks after I left it at the dealer. According to the financial institution the instalment will be reimbursed after three working days of this account being settled, but I need to request this telephonically.

New cars and new car dealers are not in short supply. One would think that buying a brand new vehicle will be less hassles than buying second hand, but I would then recommend steering clear of Ford Vereeniging
