Ford South Africa wants me to have a new vehicle repaired by a panel beater. How pathetic.
I bought a Ford Ranger DC 2.2 Auto from Ben Morgenrood Ford dealership in Randfontein in the beginning of December 2018. I was told that there was a silver DC vehicle at the dealer and they could fit all the extras l ordered on the vehicle and will have it ready for collection. On the day of the collection I found that there were over spray of the rubber bakkie lining on the body of the vehicle. The extras and rubberizing was done through a preferred fitment centre of Ben Morgenrood motors. Upon further inspection it was found that there were paint flaws on the front bumper of the vehicle and was told by the employees of the dealership that they will replace the bumper and polish the vehicle to get rid of the rubberizing splatter. The dealership came and fetched the vehicle and brought me a courtesy car. When I received the vehicle back I found that the splatter marks were gone and another bumper with other marks on it was fitted. I inspected the vehicle further and found about 4 other paint flaws on the body of the vehicle as well as a dent on the right hand side pillar of the windscreen. I took the vehicle back to Ben Morgenrood and had that dealer principle go through the vehicle and I showed him all the problems on the vehicle. At that stage the vehicle had 670 kilometers on the clock and I had it for 5 days including the day that the took it for the bumper change. I was told to continue driving the vehicle as most of the Ford staff was already on leave. During January 2019 I was asked to take the vehicle to Park Panel beater for a quote to determine what the extent of the damage were. They gave me a quote of about R16500-00 damage on the vehicle. I received the vehicle with 31 kilometers on the clock (brand new). I escalated the query to Ford customer care after not getting any information from the dealership. Ford customer care then informed me that the vehicle had to be taken to the panel beater to repair on their cost and they would not supply me with a another vehicle. My problem is, how does Ford expect any customer that bought a brand new vehicle to be taken to a panel beater and have paint and bodywork done which is clearly factory defaults. This is absolutely pathetic.
