Ford South Africa - Ford Ecosport automatic - clutch issue
Purchased a 2016 FORD ECOSPORT 1.5TIVCT TITANIUM P/SHIFT in mid 2021 from a Ford Dealership who by the way also mentioned to me in their sales pitch that the vehicle had had a full service & had just been fitted with a new clutch too. To date the vehicle has had to have the clutch replaced 6 times (in less than 2 years). Ford SA have acknowledged verbally & at dealership level that there is an issue with the clutch on this vehicle (this particular vehicle was re-called in other countries for the clutch issue) yet they now want me to pay to have a 7th (since I have owned the vehicle) clutch fitted. The last clutch was fitted less than 4 months ago. How is it possible for the driver of an automatic vehicle to go through a clutch in 4 months - It's not. I have seen the various other reviews on this same site about this same issue on this same vehicle. You can google too and numerous sites come up with the same complaint. Yet Ford SA will not re-call or replace the full clutch kit each time it goes, saying its now not the clutch but the clutch kit.......... Bottom line its a factory defect on the vehicle and no fault of the driver. Ford SA own up to the issue and accept its your responsibility to fix this or offer some sort of solution. The last response from them, they offered to pay 50% of the cost of the replacement (proof that they acknowledge the issue). But why should I continue to fight each time the clutch needs replacing. Also why should I pay a cent, this is no fault of mine and is a total pain and waste of my time. Each time having to book the vehicle in, drop the vehicle off, arrange a vehicle to drive while its in, arrange for collection . Really - beyond shocking service! But failing to admit to the problem and re-calling the vehicles ..... 1st time I purchased a Ford, lesson learned - I will never touch a Ford again!
