FORD SOUTH AFRICA

I have a 2019 Ford Ecosport Ecoboost 1.0L A/T Trend. It was in July 2024 when I was leaving Cape Town to Gqeberha on 26 July the car started giving me problem few km/s from Cape Town. The car started showing engine light and lost power. I took it to mechanic in Caledon. They tried the diagnostic machine and test driving it but could not tell what the issue was. After test driving it finally showed a message about engine oil pressure. I was advised to leave right there. They stripped and took photos and sent to me. There were metal particles in the oil. The turbocharger is also dead. They had to change conrods and send the crank shaft for engineering. I am now faced with a R30k unplanned bill.

My colleague's 2016 Ford Ecosport Titanium also died on the road with no indication that there was a problem.

All I am trying to say is that Ford is failing the customers because soon after I experienced the issue I went online and discovered that in the USA these models with these issues were recalled. I was hoping to see mine was also part of that but Ford South Africa are determined to to tarnish their brand. I partly blame the SA gov for failing to take necessary steps to protect the consumers because if these cars with the same engines as those that were recalled why is Ford South Africa quiet about this? In South Africa we are really on our own.

I WISH I HAD SEEN ALL THESE REVIEWS WAY BEFORE I PURCHASED MY CAR. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE FORD BRAND TO ANYONE. JUST WISH I COULD THROW MINE DOWN THE CLIFF SO THAT NO ELSE COULD EXPERIENCE THE **** THAT MOST OF US ARE GOING THROUGH.
