Ford shifts the blame
I have a Ford Ecosport. It has 29 000 mileage. It has a full service history. I have picked up that the vehicle lost power when changing gears. I mentioned this when I had the vehicle serviced at Ford Tygervalley on the 29th of September and it was indicated on the job card as well. They assured me that they could pick up nothing. The vehicle was tip-tip. On that assurance I drove to a swim gala (400 kilometres from home) and on the 10th of October the vehicle broke down in the middle of the Karoo. I had to have it towed in to Ford Worcester. There it was established that the clutch burned out! How is this possible, the vehicle drives on average 20 kilometres a day! I am the only driver. I have had my licence since 1986 and this has never happened. Ford informed me that I must pay the bill, as this is not under warranty. It is not manufacturing error or substandard material, it is normal WEAR AND TEAR OR DRIVER ERROR! What vehicle breaks down due to a burnt or broken clutch with this type of mileage - or did I just buy a ''dud''? I have since logged a complaint with the motor industry ombud. This is certainly unacceptable! On all levels. My safety and the welfare of my family did not even deserve a mention.
