Ford SA Incompetence and Horrific Service
Bough a Ford Ranger in November 2015 with 12000km on the clock and in July 2017 on my way back from vacation with my family the vehicle broke down. After a struggle to get the vehicle towed it ended up in Mosselbay bacause of Ford's towing policy and I am form PE.
The whole engine was replaced by the dealers there. When I received the vehicle it had a jerk where it sounded almost like a belt slipping and the whole vehicle jerked. The problem is intermittent but I took it to the local dealer in PE (Eastern Cape Moters - ECM) who heard it but they can't pinpoint the problem. They couldn't do too much to investigate either according to them as the engine wasn't installed by them and they needed to find out if Ford Mosselbay would pay for the work to investigate. Nothing further happened.
In November 2017 the vehicle lost power and ECM ended up replacing the turbo as well. The jerking was still there and I escalated to Ford SA on 13 March in a hope to get a resolution to my problem. Since reporting to Ford SA NOBODY including my Case Manager hasn't made a single effort to phone me and when I phoned he was never available. I then received a mail from him saying that they are going to be closing the case because the problem is intermittent and not life threatening according to their Field Service Engineer who has not even seen my car. They came to this conclusion from just speaking to the dealership, ECM.
Now on 28 April I was driving with my car and the car made 3 consecutive jerks and after that started hissing permanently. The warning light appeared on the console so I looked in the manual and it showed to be the Powertrain warning.
Ford cannot fix my vehicle and I have all the correspondence indicating that it isn't life threatening or won't cause any other issues. I explained to them that I use my vehicle for work and cannot keep taking it in as it is affecting my job performance. I asked them how it isn't life threatening when I was bypassing a truck on the freeway and the car jerked that I lost momentum while overtaking. Now the issue has gotten worse and I have reached a point where I have NO FAITH left in Ford and this vehicle.
Seeing that Ford cannot find the issue they need to replace the engine again or take this vehicle and give me another one but I am not going to put up with this. My next step is to the Motor Industry Ombudsman as well as legal action if needed to find a resolution. I have all the correspondence and names of the people I dealt with and have no problem in making all this public if need be to get this matter resolved.
