Ford SA Ignoring My Warranty Claim – Faulty TCM Caused Gearbox Damage! ***
I am extremely disappointed with Ford South Africa’s handling of my warranty claim under the 14M02 program. My 2015 Ford EcoSport had a faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM), which Ford replaced under warranty. However, by the time they replaced it, the faulty TCM had already caused significant damage to my gearbox. A third-party specialist, MayFair Gearbox Company, dismantled my gearbox and confirmed that the TCM failure was the direct cause of the damage. Despite this clear evidence, Ford South Africa has refused to assist with the transmission repair, citing poor service history and lack of customer loyalty—even though service history has no impact on a TCM failure!
To make matters worse: I sent a formal appeal letter to Ford SA on February 20, 2025, but I have not received any response. I followed up via WhatsApp, but Ford SA is ignoring me. In February 2024, I took my car to Park Ford, and their diagnostic test showed that the TCM was unavailable, but they said nothing was wrong with my vehicle. Had they replaced the TCM back then, my gearbox would not have been damaged! This is completely unacceptable! Ford has a duty to cover collateral damage caused by warranty-covered parts under Consumer Protection laws. I will be escalating this case to MIOSA and other consumer protection authorities if Ford does not respond immediately.
Ford SA, you need to do the right thing and take responsibility for the damage your faulty TCM caused!
