Ford Ranger Tow bar wiring box burnt out

<p>We had a incidence were we could no longer tow a trailer with our vehicle as the tow box wiring box was burnt out. </p> <p>We were told by the garage fluid was spilt on the unit causing the unit to burn out needing replacement that we paid for. </p> <p>I had a look where the unit is mounted to try and find out how this could be possible as the driver of the vehicle was certain that he had not spilt or messed and fluids as such. </p> <p>The wiring box is allocated under the seat and should be in a housing that is sealed or closed off properly. If water or something were to fall over in the car there should not be a safety risk of the unit burning out. It is underneath the seat so no direct liquid will fall on top of it.</p> <p>I am not very satisfied to the fact that we had to pay to get the unit replaced as I am sure that the unit is either in the incorrect place or exposed too easy for any elements to affect the unit. If I were to drive with an infant in the vehicle and their bottle were to fall over then it could mean that the vehicle could catch alight.</p> <p>This was logged with Ford on 17/01/2017. a mail was sent back to me stating that someone will call me within the next 24hrs and has not done this as yet.</p>
