FORD RANGER NEW GENERATION XLT 2023 EXPERIENCE
My experience with Ford has been a disaster. First, they sold me a Storm Trek with torn seats and various damages all over the vehicle, which I ultimately rejected. They then replaced it with a new generation 2023 Ford Ranger XLT.
After a couple of months, I had to take the vehicle in to have the shocks replaced and other repairs made, as advised by Ford South Africa. They claimed it wasn't a recall, but I checked and found that it was listed as a recall based on the VIN number on their website.
Additionally, since my purchase, I've been experiencing a software issue where the screen would go off completely. I took the vehicle in for service at 15,000 km, but they did nothing to address the problem. When I returned for the 30,000 km service, I again requested a fix. Ford South Africa informed me that a software update would not be released until the end of October, and I'm still waiting for that.
On October 6, 2024, while driving from Langebaan with my family, where my daughter had just come out of the hospital, the vehicle had severe difficulties starting and began to lose power. The engine warning sign illuminated, and I could only drive at 60 km/h due to constant power loss. I couldn't even use the air conditioning, and we found ourselves stranded in a precarious situation amidst looting that seemed like a potential hijacking threat to my family.
This experience made me realize that driving this vehicle has put my family's safety at serious risk. I have videos and photos documenting everything that happened. I believe Ford South Africa must fully refund me for this ordeal. If this issue is not resolved, I will be compelled to share my experience on social media to inform others.
