Ford Ranger loosing its sparewheel

So a year and a half of owning a Ford Ranger it seems to have lost its spare wheel. What a bad design from the Engineers/designers to design something that terrible that can loose its spare wheel. Luckily I was made aware of the loose chain by one of my work colleagues that my spare wheel was missing. I don't know how I will drive with my Ford Ranger now again without the fear of losing its spare wheel again. I don't know if it is even worth it trying to buy another spare wheel.
