Ford N1 City - Stay far Away!
Never make use of Ford N1 City!
Our vehicle was booked in for a service and as luck would have it a day before the service, the vehicle did not start and we needed to have the vehicle towed in to the dealership. Quote from Fikile, "as with anything, things break just after the warranty expires" so we were told we need to pay for a diagnostic to be done so that they can find what is faulty.
The diagnostic was performed and the feedback we received was that the starter motor and battery needed to be replaced. We gave the go ahead for them to perform the repairs as well as the general service.
When we collected the vehicle days later, and after a sizable payment we were ready to leave (or so we thought).
- Firstly, the service book was not stamped. - 2ndly the vehicle prompted various warning lights that were not active beforehand. - 3rdly various settings were adjusted (Things such as the automatic windows being switched off).
We approached the service desk again and told them about the warning lights. It was then decided that another diagnostic needed to be run.
Here's where the fun starts...
The new diagnostic was run and all of a sudden there was now a gearbox error. (bare in mind that a diagnostic had been run just days before and this error did not exist. The car was in their possession during this period).
It was 4:30pm at this stage so they were all leaving and told us to bring the vehicle back next week.
Fast forward to next week and my wife takes the car back to Ford N1 City.
Zandile, the "foreman" places the vehicle on the diagnostic machine and again informs us of the gearbox error which would cost another R15 000 to fix.
At this stage it's clear that obviously, something was damaged during the service as the pre service diagnostic test did not show this error. My wife called me at work and asked me to speak to Zandile. I requested for the results of the initial diagnostic test to be sent to me (The first 1 done before the service). Zandile agreed and we ended the call.
5 Minutes later, my wife calls me in tears. Zandile after agreeing with me that he would send the report, had changed his tune and was not only refusing to send this to me, but also behaving in an extremely rude manner towards my wife.
From the above engagement, it seems that the refusal to send the original diagnostic is a cover-up so that they don't expect responsibility for damaging our vehicle.
So long story short, we will be taking this further, but a warning to all - If you would like to receive your car back in better position or even the same position as before a service, DO NOT MAKE USE OF FORD N1 CITY
