Ford Motoring Company South Africa & Imperial Ford Kempton Park Incompetence

I have been a proud owner of a NEW Ford Kuga 1.6 Ambiente 2014 (under warranty).

My problems initially started around August 2015. All communication between myself the Dealer Principle Imperial Ford Kempton Park, Key Accounts Manager Imperial Auto and between Imperial Ford Kempton Park and Ford Motoring Company South Africa should be on record.

Brief description of the problem:

1. There seems to be some sort of electrical drainage on the vehicle.

2. Initially it starts with malfunctioning of the air conditioning unit which leads to electrical drainage on the battery.

Actions taken thus far:

1. Instrument Cluster was replaced during December 2015 as Ford Motoring Company South Africa was of the opinion that the cluster was running tests in the background when the car is switched off causing the drainage on the battery.

2. April 2016 problem reoccurred.

3. The vehicle has been with Imperial Ford Kempton Park since 25 April 2016 and between Imperial Ford Kempton Park and Ford Motoring Company South Africa resolution seems to be non-existent.

4. My vehicle has since been given back to me on 15 June 2016, I was told that Imperial Ford has done all they could with the assistance from Ford Motoring Company South Africa and that I should test the car. (of which the problem has reoccurred)

The proposals at the time:

Proposal on the table Imperial Ford Kempton Park:

1. To settle the car of which the dealer is prepared to over allow for profit on a new deal.

2. There will however still be a shortfall R31 800 against settlement of which the suggestion is that I will need to account for this – my view is that this should not be my problem.

3. Another proposal is that I take a second-hand vehicle of similar specification, mileage, price etc. This proposal is what was suggested to me and was confirmed on 18 May 2016, it is now a month later and I have yet to receive a replacement vehicle. I went to see the dealer principle on Thursday 26 May 2016 and he requested that I be patient as the deal is based on a trade in and they await another vehicle. This deal has since not materialised as the trade in fell through.

I have since contacted Motoring Company South Africa reference number: "available" and spoke to an agent who picked up the history and assured me that she will investigate, this has since been closed as the dealer confirmed the replacement of the car, through a good substitution via the Bank where the car is financed.

My main concern after almost 11 months of frustration is that the root cause problem seems to baffle everyone involved and from spectator valley it is very worrying.

I must admit I have lost all faith in the car “Ford” and my biggest worry is that this problem somehow gets dealt now and as soon as the car falls out of warranty, I sit with egg on my face.

Having said all of this the outcomes seems simple fix my car or give me another car given that it is under warranty.

The only other approach I can think of is to approach the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa as the official letter of complaint to the dealer principle as well as trying to resolve through the Imperial Group Accounts Manager did not seem to work.

"Go Further" 10 Weeks later....8 months of frustration.

I have since worked with the Dealer Principal Imperial Ford Kempton Park and we are looking at finding a workable solution.
