FORD KOKSTAD (FEDAUTO) EXPLOITED MY PARENTS

My parents are extremely DISAPPOINTED and FRUSTRATED with the treatment they got from Ford Kokstad. In late November 2018 my father incurred problems with his Ford Ranger (HPX891EC) which resulted in it not being able to start. He contacted Simac in Mthatha then he towed the bakkie to Super Mac where he was told that its mechanical problem. The bakkie was then transferred to Ford in Kokstad where it would be repaired. The service advisor (Richard Prinsloo) assured that the issue would be attended to and that regular contact would be kept.

Months went by and there was no regular communication, it was in fact my father who would call Richard and it was always the same excuse. Every time my father called, to check the progress, he was told that they (Ford) are busy with wiring. Supposedly this wiring was done for almost 6 months (from January till June 2019) as that’s the only information my father got from Richard. In August 2019, Richard eventually called my father to request a down payment of R32 000 for the replacement of certain electric wires as stated by the specialist, which he paid without hesitation. Furthermore, they told my parents to pay an additional R18 000 for labour of the wiring, which would bring the overall total to R50 000.

Richard did not give my parents the courtesy of providing feedback after the payments were done and we were now forced to keep going into the branch (which is about 182km from where we stay) or calling them regularly. In October 2019, Richard called my parents and now said that the problem was with the engine whereby it would cost them R144 000 for replacement of a new engine, parts and labour. Furthermore, they were informed that failure to make this payment would result in Ford Kokstad charging them for storage, which would be effective from 1st November 2019.

My parents then decided to collect the bakkie from Ford on the 31st October 2019, only to their surprise. Upon collection, they noticed that the bakkie was stripped of the engine, the gearbox was also stripped and the worst part is that none of the parts were put back in place. FORD KOKSTAD EXPLOITED MY PARENTS as they did not render the service my parents fully paid for, nor did they offer them a refund or proper explanation and nor did they ensure that the bakkie was brought back in the state we left it in, fully assembled. My parents UTTERLY DISGUSTED by the advice and service received and would appreciate immediate assistance in solving this problem.
