FORD has lost a client
In 2015 I purchased a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ambiente from a dealership. The dealership indicated that the service intervals was 15 000 km. It was serviced by a Ford Service center on the day that I took possession. I drive about 6000 to 7000 km per year, so naturally after 18 months (8500 km) I took it to the dealership to have it serviced, still well within the 15 000km just to be told that it is actually the shorter of 1year and 15 000. So then my vehicle warranty was cancelled and I was prevented from buying any additional warranty - I tried. I received no notification from Ford that the vehicle was due for service after 1 year even though the correct address and contact details were provided to the seller. Since then the vehicle was serviced annually at a Ford Service Centre. Earlier this year, with my odometer reading at 88 000km, an engine light came on (not critical). We took the vehicle to the Ford service center and was told that the engine had misfired and after repairs were made the vehicle was returned. a week or so later the warning light re-appeared. I was notified that valve 3 within my engine was leaking and that the entire engine had to be overhauled. Surely this is not something that just happen overnight. Surely this must have been picked up along the way. My issue is this: Ford provided an warranty for the vehicle up to 120 000km. My engine had to be overhauled on 88 000 km. This to me is an indication that there was a latent defect. This is supported by the fact that t he Service Manager indicated that he had not seen that model have any engine issues at 88 000 km before in his long career. We received no explanation for the issue, a 6 months warranty on the work performed and the service center cannot guarantee that the catalytic converter will not be affected by the work done. All costs for my account. I have also been a very loyal client. Even after my warranty was voided I continued to have my vehicle serviced at the Ford Service Centre. Ford shows no accountability for the poor build quality on the engine. So from now on unfortunately, I will never buy a Ford product again.
Even though the Service Manager was sympathetic to our plight ( and that is the only reason you are receiving a 3) I have lost all trust in the build quality and after sales service of FORD.
