Ford has damaged my vehicle
My car is no longer drivable after taking it for service at NMI Ford Pietermaritzburg and Ford Amanzimtoti. I took my car (Ford EoSport) for a service at Ford Pietermaritzburg on 12/10/2023 and a few weeks later I had to take it in again to Ford Amanzimtoti as it had an oil leak.
Ford Amanzimtoti carried out an inspection on 02/11/2023 and found that expansion bottle is leaking anti-freeze onto sparks plugs causing a misfire. About 2 days after, a service lady from Ford called to inform me that my vehicle also has a transmission fault and that the gears are no longer engaging. The vehicle is automatic and has a very low mileage just over 20 000 km's.
My vehicle has never had a transmission fault before as stated by Ford. On the day I took my vehicle for service, the transmission was working perfectly well and there was never any sign of a fault.
This is where it gets interesting, when Ford Amanzimtoti called to inform me about this, they first said Reverse is not engaging and it has been reported that there are issues with TCM modules on these kind of cars of which they will fix and Ford will then cover the costs (in other words they have stated that this is a manufacturer fault).
On 05/11/2023, I then received an email stating that an inspection was run and the vehicle is still not engaging reverse and the gearbox needs replacement. I was then given a quote for the replacement for R245.000. Furthermore, I was then told that all gears ae no longer engaging and the car can no longer start properly.
I also received a phone call from another service advisor asking me on the state of my car as they have fixed the leak. I then informed this person that the car is still with them and that there is another issue with the car. They then advised that they will follow up on this and get back to me of which this never happened.
Please note that when I took the car in, it was working perfectly well and there was never any problem besides the oil leak. As Ford Amanzimtoti stated that Ford will cover the replacement costs, this is no longer the case and I need to now cover the cost for replacement.
My car is now all of a sudden no longer drivable! How can I take a car in for an oil leak and then be told the gearbox is now damaged. Ford Amanzimtoti have also contradicted themselves when explaining the issue to me.
Whatever happened to the gearbox has been caused by Ford and not myself and now I am told to cover replacement. My car has also never been in an accident.
I need this matter to be investigated and for Ford to admit the fault they have done on the vehicle causing it to no longer move at all!!!!
