Ford ecosport 1 Lt A/T Titanium Engine Failure
I have a Ford ecosport 1 Lt A/T Titanium 2018 that has done 45993Km. I work from home with the milage remaining low. Recently my engine light came on and I took the vehicle to a Ford dealership to have the engine checked. The dealership advised that one of my cylinders has lost compression and the engine needs replacing, handing me a quote for R130 000.00. The dealership did offer to put a claim into Ford SA who after investigating reverted stating bad / contaminated fuel, rejecting the claim. I have then gone back to Ford SA to loge another claim which is still underway however still noting issues with the fuel used. I use the same fuel (Petrol) stations as other motorists on the road within my area and am unaware of any reported issues regarding fuel? Not sure why my Ford ecosport has been the exception? I have been reading up regarding Ford ecosport engine issues reported surrounding the wet belt system used in the engines resulting in some customers experiencing engine failures and eagerly wait on Ford SA to assist in fixing my Ford ecosport that has done such low milage before engine failure.
I managed to save up enough funds to have the vehicle repaired. This has taken almost a year to finally get my vehicle back and it has been a frustrating journey till now.
The repairs have been concluded and the vehicle is running well. The information regarding the engine failure is some what a misnomer where FORD noted that the engine failed due to contaminated fuel however when the vehicle was returned I was advised that the 3rd piston had broken. This indicates that it was a hardware failure within the engine and not what FORD had advised. I have the engine parts that were removed that conclusively shows the broken piston.
We place such trust in the large corporations that service us as customers, This has now placed even a lager disappointment in the FORD product and the service that they offer.
