Ford Culemborg (Cape Town) - Disappointment of NOTE
My car recently had a misfire and booked in at Ford Culemborg (Cape Town ) for a diagnostic test. The diagnostic report indicated that a compression test done found that the compression is low in the 3rd cylinder. Upon a discussion with one of the service consultants , turns out , as stated by the consultant that either the cylinder head or engine head is blown . In addition, it was mentioned that the engine will most likely have to be replaced. To note, a new engine for a Ford Fiesta 1L eoboost cost +/- R130K . I then discussed with the consultant and told her that according to my knowledge a misfire could be one of many things not functioning as it should in the engine itself , like it could be something as simple as a sparkplug, to which the consultant rep**** that it is definitely the engine head or cylinder head itself, based on the result of the compression test. I then got a second opinion , which got me around to take my car to another RMI certified motor workshop. Another compression test was done and the result was normal, no drop in compression. Due to Ford's result of a low compression test and the concern it raised with the other mechanic at the other motor workshop, a hot compression test was done as well , the result was still normal. Upon further checks , it was found that the misfire was caused due to some erosion on one of the sparkplugs . I would have spent close to R150K (new motor and labor ) had i left the car with ford . The alternate motor workshop, saved me from this ridiculous spend on my car. Ford has given the worse service by far , causing unnecessary stress i did not need and who no-one else need as we are so very stressed with many other things in life . It is of utmost disappointment that a dealership of this rapport will "confidently" have people spend money where it is not required all because of the incompetence of the employees at Ford.
