Ford Assist will leave you stranded
Ford assist left us stranded over the long weekend - 342 km from home. Our 2020 (12months old) Ford Ranger 2.0 (10Spd Auto) lost all power and died on 6Aug at 21:00. We phoned a towing company to tow the vehicle in to Mosselbay. Ford in Mosselbay have a vehicle loan program, but didn't have any vehicle available and said sorry, all our vehicles are out. I left a voice message to the manager to say that we are stranded and he still didn't return my call. Ford assist referred us to the AA, who said that Avis would call us on the Monday at 08:00. At around 08:40 we called them. They could only help us with a budget car at 15h00 the afternoon. (we got a lift with friends who rented a house for the weekend, but we had to be out at 10h00). Our luggage could not fit into a Polo/Fiesta and we could not wait for 15h00. We could drive 300km for 24hours and would have to return the vehicle to Mosselbay. And we would have to pay for the delivery of the car to the house. That wasn't much help at all. Now our bakkie is still in Mosselbay and the AA tells us that Ford Assist doesn't want to talk to them and we need to get more case numbers. Our case number is 659 if Ford would like to reply. Ranger is a 2020 model with 31 000 km, serviced 1000km ago. Got the bakkie back from the service and the next morning there was a huge pool of oil on my garage floor.... took it back to Stellenbosch Ford. They said that it is difficult not to spill the oil when they remove the oil filter..... They sort of cleaned the underside of the vehicle and it stopped leaking. I'm just so disgusted in Ford's poor service overall. I expect them to guess and replace a sensor, reset and like they said at Ford: this may never happen again.
