Ford and Mazda Diep Rivier
I am highly disappointed with the service that have received from Ford and Mazda Diep Rivier.
As a young, naïve adult if I might add, I bought my first car from Ford and Mazda Diep River 2014. Initially I had wanted a 5 year service plan (to match my repayment period). I had been advised by the sales consultant to rather buy a 5 year maintenance plan instead, which I did.
To my surprise, when I wanted to take my car for a service during June 2018 at Imperial Ford Cape Town, they had said I need to obtain my policy number, which I did, only to learn that my maintenance plan had expired, due to it having a cap of 60 000km. Imperial Ford Cape Town had then let me know that the service cannot be completed because the maintenance plan had expired.
When I contacted Ford and Mazda Diep Rivier, highly upset (given the fact that I am only learning about a 60 000km limit now), I spoke to two employees that said they will help me that never did. I eventually asked to speak to the manager. I told the manager that it was never brought to my attention that my 5 year maintenance plan had a 60 000km limit. I also proceeded to point out the fact that how on earth, if the average person drives 20 000km p/y, was I sold a 5 year maintenance plan with a 60 000km limit. I said it had been my first car and I had not read through all the finer detail when I cam to sign the paper work, as the sale consultant had told me this page says that, please sign here, and there, etc. I asked how he would have proceeded if he had been my sale consultant: He said that he would have asked what I am going to use the car for, and if I had said for day to day driving to and from work, he would have based it on a 100 000km 5 year plan. I then proceeded to say that this was never discussed with me, and if the sale consultant had done his job properly then I would not be in this dilemma, having paid for a 5 year maintenance plan for which I only received 3 years worth in value. I told him that I feel as though I had been **********, that all the sale consultant was after was the sale and value of the sale, not my best interest and the fact that one does not buy a car everyday. The manager then proceeded to tell me that there is nothing he can do for me, as I have signed the offer to purchase. I was thinking to myself really! Really! Surely the plan sold was not reasonable and I should at least receive an offer to bring the car into Ford Diep Rivier then they will perform the service at a discount, or that they can extend my plan. But what did I receive? Absolutely nothing!
I have since received an almost R15 000 quote from Imperial Ford Cape Town for the service and maintenance work that needs to be done.
I am absolutely disgusted with the service that I have received and the fact that nothing was done to try to help me. For an average income earner a car is not something you buy every day, and you do not leave R15 000 lying around.
I definitely will not be purchasing my next car from Ford. I will go to a dealership where my best interests are kept in mind, all facts considered and provided to me so that I can make an informed decision. Not just any advise given in order to make a sale.
