Engine failure due to poor quality service
It's upsetting to see a large multinational provide poor quality service, fail to own up to it and expect the consumer to pick up their slack.
My mother's ford vehicle broke down two weeks ago. From initial communication with a Ford technical manager, my mom was informed that due to her cars' oil not being changed over a number of years her engine has failed, she would have to cough up R42 000 to replace it.
I decided to step in as I know my mother regularly services her car. Following a great number of calls and back and forth from Human Auto Kimberley and Bloemfontein, this was confirmed to me as well.
Given that oil needs to be changed at every service I contacted Ford motor company SA to alert them of the poor quality service conducted by their subs and the result of this on my mother's car. Two weeks later the cause of the failure has been shifted to a non-changing of parts (something apparently not done by Ford during their services), everything done to avoid responsibility in my opinion.
A build-up of oil in an engine sounds like something a Ford technician conducting a service should be aware of, the companies handling of this matter has been poor.
Ref #: ***
