Engen of the year but not for us
Ford South Africa Ford Motor Company DON’T TRUST FORD ECOSPORT 1.0L ENGINE!!! BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING FROM FORD PLEASE READ I WILL TRY SUMMARISE MY ANGER AND DISAPPOINTMENT AS BEST AS I CAN • March 2018 I bought my Ecosport • September 2018 the car had an engine misfire and the engine was replaced on the 21st and I was told that was not the first engine problem the car had experienced • 4th of September 2019 the car had another engine misfire and engine needed to be replaced. Difference this time was that the car warranty had expired and I was told I had to pay for another engine even though the current engine had failed in less than a year after they had replaced it. They told me that even if my car warranty had expired a month after fitment the warranty of the new engine would also expire. Very dodge if you ask me because there is no way of telling that the engine they gave me was of good quality. • After being immobile for 3 weeks I was eventually given a courtesy car. During that time my car was still under investigation, as per Ford SA’s orders the car had to be stripped to look for the cause of the recurring problem • 12th of October I was told Ford would pay for the engine replacement and I must pay for the labour which would cost me just over R17k! I requested this to be in writing and they refused and referred me to their call centre after dealing with them in person for over a month. Call centre gave me the run around and told me they would get back to me but never did. Still on the same day I was told to return the courtesy car on the 15th of October, car fixed or not. • What if the new engine they want to put in fails within four months this time? What will they do differently now? What guarantee is there that I was never given a faulty product from the start? Even if the car is fixed, how do I trust the product after this? Why must I pay for a problem that shouldn’t have been a problem to begin with? If they have seen that the problem is with their product why must I pay for them to fix their problem? Why not give me the diagnosis report so that I am also aware what the cause is? Now I must pay 17k immediately with no explanation!!! Zintle Abukwe Nelani is the name of the customer
