Car replacement
Good day,
Let me explain exactly what has been happening with this car we bought from Ford Mahikeng.
We bought a JAC on the 7th of August 2025, and we got it a week later. They told us it was a demo with only 600 km on the clock. Nedbank financed us, and we even traded in our Beijing because we wanted a reliable car for business use.
Then on the 17th of October, the car just failed. The screen went off and the start button wouldn’t work. We immediately called Refilwe, the lady who helped us with the deal. She said her boss told her we must call JAC Roadside Assistance. The car was towed the next day from my husband’s workplace.
After that, everything went downhill.
We asked Ford for a courtesy car and Refilwe said she’s on leave, and her manager couldn’t help. We only have one car, so I had to cancel my work schedule just to stay home. Then Ford told us we must call JAC/4 Wheels/Nissan Mahikeng because that’s where the car was taken.
When we called JAC/4 Wheels Mahikeng, the person we spoke to was rude and said they don’t do courtesy cars. So on Monday, we decided to Uber to Ford Mahikeng where we signed the contract. Only then did they give us a courtesy van.
When we asked Ford for updates about the car, they kept sending us back to JAC/4 Wheels Mahikeng.
Every time we went there, we were treated badly. One time the manager literally smoked and blew the smoke in our direction. He just said, “We’ll let you know.” When we went back again, he asked us what we were looking for because “the car is clearly not done.” The next week he even said maybe we are the ones who ruined the car.
We got tired of being disrespected and just went home to wait.
Two weeks later, Ford called us demanding their courtesy van back, saying “the VIP treatment is over.” When my husband asked how we were supposed to move around, they said it’s not their problem and referred us back to JAC/4 Wheels.
At that point, I got frustrated and went on social media to explain our experience. The next morning, suddenly they called us early, telling us the car is now being fixed, and that we can keep the courtesy car—but they also demanded we delete the videos. I told them no, and from now on they must communicate with us by email.
It was clear that they only took us seriously because the posts went viral.
They then said the car was fixed on Thursday, 27 November 2025. But when we took it for a drive, it had no power and the engine light came on. We immediately told them to come collect it because we’re tired—this is a new car, and it has given us nothing but problems.
That’s the full story of what we’ve been dealing with.
