BOTCHED SERVICE
Good day,
I AM FURIOUS AT THE MOMENT THAT I AM ABOUT TO THROW MY PC AGAINST THE WALL!!!!!
I have a 2014 Ford Fiesta EcoBoost with 81 000km on the clock.
On the 29th of July 2020 I’ve send my vehicle to Basil Green Ford in Greenstone Hill for the 6th Annual vehicle service, WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A MAJOR SERVICE!!!!
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED INVOICE FOR THE SERVICE AND WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
Now the weekend that passed, I went to go visit my grandparents which is a 3 hour drive there and back. Total 500km – first time that I took the car out of Johannesburg since Dec 2019.
On the way back, I started losing power as the turbo didn’t kick in when I was going on an incline went down from 120km/h to 80km/h which has never happened before. (I have the car for 3 years this month)
Upon arrival at the nearest gas station the car was shaking furiously when it was idling, the engine light started flickering And stayed on plus the automatic start/stop engine light came on and refused to go off if I pressed it.
As I was too scared to drive the car any further. I had to get it towed back to the house.
Next day I phoned Basil Green Ford and talked to their Service Manager – explaining what had happened which I was told to bring the car in.
Upon arrival, I switched the car on to idle and show them what was happening and 1st thing I was told it might just be a faulty spark plug (which I am assuming was from my “MAJOR SERVICE” – if the spark plugs were ever changed)
I’ve left the car in their “capable hands” as I’d done with the “Major Service” with them 2 month earlier.
Next day I was phoned AND TOLD THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE MY ENGINE BECAUSE OF COMPRESSION FAILURE IN CYLINDER 3 AND 2 WHICH WOULD COST ME R72 000.00
I CAN BUY A ****ING NEW CAR WITH IT!!!!!
OH JA, I ALSO HAD TO PAY R2000 FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS IN CASH FOR SOME ODD REASON AND I DIDN’T GET A RECEIPT FOR IT NEITHER THE RESULTS ON THE DIAGNOSTICS !!!!!!!!!RED FLAG!!!!!!!!
Now this is the best part: The service manager avoided me at all costs and just told me that the mechanic will talk to me. The service adviser was putting up such a bad act about the whole situation: Kept asking me what I am going to do with the car and they don’t know what could have caused it.
The most interesting is when the mechanic told me that this whole deal could had happened because I put contaminated fuel(I always refuel at Engen, unleaded 95) into my car otherwise he couldn’t explain anything to me and I could see he was trying to hide from answering my questions.
In conclusion:
I HAVE A CAR THAT IS STANDING IN A BACK YARD WITH 3 YEARS OF PAYPMENTS LEFT ON IT. I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO GO TO WORK OR ANYWHERE. I DO NOT HAVE R72 000 JUST LAYING AOUND TO REPLACE AN ENGINE.
THIS HAS LEFT ME INCREDIBLY DISGRUNTLED WITH FORD, AND SERIOUSLY LEAVES ME UNWILLING TO BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN.
