Being charged for faulty brake discs after 10 months
I am appalled by the service and feedback received from Modus Ford Diep River. I purchased my 2022 Ford Ecosport demo model in December 2022, and had to replace the brake discs at the end of May 2023. Now, 10 months later, after having received supposed brand new brake discs as part of our warranty in May 2023, I am having the exact same problem with my discs and Ford noted that the discs need to be replaced. However they note now that this replacement is not covered by warranty, and that the cost of replacement is for my own account! How on earth does wear and tear in 10 months lead to the exact same problem we had in May 2023. This is not a wear and tear issue, and the feedback and utter lack of assistance from Ford is shocking! Ford neither confirmed nor denied whether the front wheel brake discs were out of round. This can be checked and tested within a certain tolerance level (I believe), which will determine whether the discs were faulty or whether it is in fact normal wear and tear after 10 months of driving.
I have tried to find a complaints policy and link to lodge a formal complaint, to no avail on the Ford website.
I am posting this to try and receive some appropriate response from Ford other than the response received that the product is not faulty and that the issue is related to normal wear and tear. They then proceeded to state, as a a gesture of good will, we will receive a 50% discount of the costs. This "gesture of good will" does not provide any feedback on the discs being out of round or within the tolerance level range etc.
I remain of the view, without sufficient evidentiary confirmation that the discs are in fact of inferior quality and or merely require replacing due to wear and tear. It is general opinion, and we have asked around, that discs should last multiple years, not 10 months.
