Bad services

I would just like to take a moment and voice my dissatisfaction with McCarthy Ford Silverlakes.

I recently took my 10 year old Ford KA to McCarthy Ford Silverlakes for a water leak and an illuminated engine light. I dropped the car of on a Monday (29/08) morning and at around 12 o’clock I decide to phone them for a check-up on the progress of the car. The service assistant then informed me that the mechanics have not yet started working on the car. A whole day goes by and still no word from Ford about the progress of the car and I decide to phone them again. The very friendly service assistant then informs me that the coolant reservoir needs replacing and a few other minor things, but unfortunately these parts need to be ordered.

Wednesday afternoon I collect the car and pay the full amount and as I get into the car to leave, the engine light comes on again. The service lady then calls over the workshop foreman and he proceeds to explain to me that according to him everything was fixed and running smoothly, engine light was off and no water drips. The workshop foreman then assurance me I could bring the car back at a time that suits me to have the engine light sorted out.

Sunday afternoon I left for a quick drive and upon returning home I see the car is dripping water. So, patiently I make a new appointment for the car and Tuesday morning (06/09) I take the car back. Once again the first day they do not communicate with me at all. Day two I phone them and the friendly service lady has now turned into a not-so-friendly lady and se prompts me she will phone me back with a progress report.

Two hours later I receive a phone call from ford informing me that both lambda sensors need replacing and the Thermostat housing also needs replacement, totalling a bill of R9301.82.

This leads me to two separate conclusions. 1) That the first time the car came to Ford for troubleshooting they never even bothered to put the car through a diagnostic test, otherwise the lambda sensor would have been picked up earlier. 2) The current mechanic or the workshop foreman lying to my face and is trying to take me for a complete ride as I have no car knowledge.

If you would please start taking the time to truly care for customers and do a thorough job from the beginning customers would be returning time after time.
