Bad Service - Chipping Tires
I bought a brand new Ford Ranger double cab last year around June.
Recently my vehicle hit 15 000 km's. I noticed that my front tires have chips. I went to tiger wheel and tire in Roodepoort. They advised me that this is a fault with Ford and something to do with the suspension. They advised that this is a common issue that they have experienced. They said that I would need to go to the dealer and they would need to assist me further and get the correct tires fitted on my car. I went to the Ford dealer in Roodepoort and they advised that they are aware of the issue and that I would need to contact Ford SA directly for further assistance. I contacted Ford SA and they reffered me back to the dealer and said that I would need to phone them when I was at the dealer. I contacted the dealer and got hold of the Service Manager (Jacques). He contacted Ford SA on my behalf and relayed a message from Ford SA that I need to go back to tiger wheel and tire and ask them for a report on the tires and I would need to pay for the tread that I have used and they will pay the balance thereof to replace the two front tires.
I have a 4x2 and I need to rotate the tires every 10 000Km or so to get good mileage out of them. So changing two tires would not help. I honestly do not understand why I have to pay for tread used as this is a Ford problem. I am not looking to change the tires for my pleasure.
I am beyond frustrated with being sent from pillar to post and no sign of any resolution to this anytime soon. If this is a known issue, why does Ford SA not have a process in place that would address this, or even put correct tires that can handle their suspension from the onset.
