2012 Ford Ranger rear window irreplaceable

<p>The "rear slider" (the rear window) of my 2012 Ford Ranger super-cab (Second last shape) exploded from inside at 7am on 14 June 2016 while parked. I know it's from inside by looking at where the glass was lying and the convex shape of the circumference glass remaining.</p> <p>I then went to Glasfit in Middelburg and processed a claim. I also asked what the cash price for the window was (Approximately R5 500). I was phoned 3 days later and informed that there was a 3 week waiting period for this particular window, as it was on back order. I asked whether they could fit another type of window. I was told no; because then the insurance would not pay unless it was the same as the original window.</p> <p>On the 4th of August (7 weeks from first going to Glasfit) I was phoned and told the correct window was there. My wife took the Ranger in on the 8th of August to have it replaced and on arrival found that it was not the same window that the Ranger was manufactured with, but a simpler type. (and most likely a lot cheaper, it looks like the old type windows).</p> <p>The reply from Glasfit was that they ordered the back window based on the VIN number of the car given to them, and this is the product that was delivered to them. </p>
