Wanting to charge unnecessarily to retrieve a Key Code
I had to disconnect my car's battery and when reconnecting, the radio asked for a Key code.
This code was suppose to be pasted in the radio/owner manual and wasn't. My father also owns a Ford and had a similar problem. He called Ford, supp**** his VIN number and received the code.
I called the Paarden Island brach and requested to do the same. I was notified that supplying the VIN number won't work. The only option would be to remove the entire (built in) audio system to get the number!
I confirmed with the man on the phone that I thus need to take the car in, pay for someone to do the removal, JUST to get a number. I found this absolutely ridiculous.
After a brief search on google I found that all that needed to be done was to snap out the glove box and the number is pasted on the side of the box!!!!!!!! I did this and my radio is working.
This seems like something they would know and often come across when repairing cars as a business. Yet they wanted to make money out of me instead of supplying an easy solution!
