Warranty what a lie

I bought my ford fiago 18 months ago, last week noticed huge amount of water suddenly leaking from my car. I took a look and found the windscreen bottle was cracked. So no accident or damage to the vehicle just the bottle had sprung a leak. I then got hold of Kempster Ford explained the issue and asked if it would be covered under the warranty, I was told I would need to bring it in so they could inspect vehicle to see it hadnt been in an accident. I made the booking for the 23rd May.

I arrived to be told there would be a R850 charge for handling the vehicle IF and it was a big if the part was covered under the warranty then the R850 would be covered but if not then it was for my account. I find this totally a ******* the vehicle literally would be looked at for 5 minutes to determine whether the warranty was going to cover this or not, how is this expense justified. I am not in a financial position to take a chance that the R850 will be covered and not being told when I made the booking made me even more angry. Its a simple part to replace and wasnt damaged by myself. So what now do I now go find a mehanic to repair this which will be half the cost and run the risk of voiding the warranty. clearly the warranty means nothing so maybe that is the route I should look at. I am very disappointed how I was handled and what a ******* these dealerships are.
