Gearbox clutch problems on a 2000km car which had a warranty cover and was declined
On the 13th November 2017 around 5h40am, I on ramped William Nicol and put on gear one and two then when I put gear three it slipped back to neutral gear. I decided to park on the side to check if it has any alert from the dashboard but there was nothing. I decided to try it again and gear one and two went through but gear three failed again which I parked again on the side and decided to call for road assistance.
The car was towed, and I received a call from Ford Fury William Nicol that the car will go for checking for warranty approval and it will be checked whether it was technical or if it was my fault. I received a response from them to confirm that the warranty has declined due to incorrect driving as the gearbox clutch is damaged, and it must be replaced for R11000.00. I requested an invoice which was sent then decided to do further research which confirmed that a car that has “0km – 50 000km has a warranty of 100%”
On the 23rd November 2017, I received an e-mail which was sent on the 22nd November 2017 at 17h42 from Rosanne Loots from Ford that I need to arrange a meeting Ben Van Niekerk (Service Manager) from Ford as I will be charged R250.00 per day for storage. I responded to Rosanne that I am unable fetch the car as I’m writing exams. Rosanne responded that I need to come with proof of payment, am not sure which one as I’m already struggling to raise the amount of R11000.00 and now R250.00 daily is beyond me as I cannot afford it.
My first experience as a first time owner has left me devastated and I'm being pushed over by them to pay without listening to my concern as a consumer. I have requested a letter confirming reason why the warranty has declined and instead Ben van Niekerk is not remorseful telling me that he's charging me storage fees. I do not get any assistance from Ford and have sent several emails but no response.
