Vehicle damaged
On the 12th of October 2017 my ex-girlfriend informed me that she is taking her vehicle back to Ford as she can no longer afford the payments on the vehicle (Which was on my name) and that I can fetch the car there. I spoke to Heidi Odendaal (who assisted me in purchasing 2 vehicles a year ago) and she informed me that it is in order to park the car there until I can collect it. The car was there for 10 days and I picked it up on the 21st of October 2017. When I arrived at the branch they (Heidi) informed me that my car had a huge dent and scratch marks on the one side and that they "forgot" to inform me. As per Heidi my ex brought the car as is. At the time I was frustrated and informed Heidi that I will sort it out with my ex and left with the car. Upon arriving home I thoroughly inspected the damage and found that the scratch marks were fresh as the powdery residue was still present. If the car was damaged by my ex the residue would not have been there 10 days after and with 2 days rain during the time that it was standing at Ford outside in their stock yard. I immediately phoned Heidi (after phoning my ex and she informed me that she has evidence that she left the car in good condition) and requested to see video footage of the vehicle. Heide informed me that the CCTV system does not work and after requesting feedback on who damaged the car she informed me that I must take it up with my ex. I have since obtained evidence that the car was in fact delivered to Ford in perfect condition. On Monday the 23rd of October 2017 I went to the branch and requested assistance but Heidi informed me that there is nothing that she can do. I left the branch and then phoned to speak to the Branch manager. After waiting 2 hours for the branch manager to phone me back, note I phoned 5 times to speak to him and was informed that he is busy in a meeting and then he was busy with interviews etc., I went back and walked into the first office I found and said I wanted to speak to the branch manager but was informed that he is in meetings etc. The person introduced himself as Kobus van Staden and informed me that he is the branch manger and that he is never too busy to see a client. (Keep that in mind). I informed him of the damages to my car and he informed me that he did not even know that the car was parked there and that I should actually pay about R5000 for the storage of the vehicle for the duration that it was on their premises. I duly informed him that the sales lady, Heidi never informed me of this and that she must take accountability for the payment, it is obvious that the procedure for booking in a vehicle was not followed and now they refuse to assist me with finding out what happened. When I asked Kobus if the CCTV system worked he said yes it worked and then I realised that Heidi was lying to me. When I informed Kobus that it is strange that the vehicle has been standing there for 10 days but nobody informed me that there are damages to the vehicle he informed me that it is not their responsibility to inform the clients about that. I requested CCTV footage and he informed me that he can give it to me by Friday the 27th but he never phoned and when I phoned he was apparently busy in a hearing. I left a message and informed the receptionist to tell Kobus to urgently phone me back as I want feedback. A week passed and I heard nothing so I phoned again and got hold of Kobus but when I requested feedback he informed me that he can’t assist me and that I must take it up with Heidi and he had a bad attitude with the Client that he previously wasn’t too busy to attend to. I still do not have an answer to my query and the damages are not yet repaired and they are unwilling to assist me in any way. Are they not accountable if their employees do not follow procedure and damages occur to a client’s vehicle?
