I tried the Biryani packet recently. The flavor is acceptable, but I have a few practical questions regarding the marketing claims. The packaging states it feeds up to 6 children or 4 adults, but in reality, it barely provided enough food for 3 adults as a standalone meal. Are these portion sizes calculated as side dishes, or do you need to add your own extra ingredients to make it stretch that far? Also, the 30-minute simmer time requires a significant amount of electricity, gas, or paraffin. For a product aimed at affordable relief, how do users manage these high cooking fuel costs? At R50–R60 a packet, it feels like buying raw bulk ingredients might still be more economical for charity feeding. Would love to hear how others make this practical.
