Waterfall Selling Rotten Chicken Fillets
Yesterday (16/01/23) I bought breast chicken fillets from Food *****s Waterfall that turned out to be rotten. The first alarm bell was the fact that they were frozen, which is odd considering that I've never seen these sold frozen before. Upon arrival in my car, due to parking in the sun these started to melt and a foul smell filled up the car.
I immediately returned to the shop for a refund. Upon discussion of the issue with the butchery management it came to light that the one supervisor Johannes had placed this batch aside for return to the DC, to be declared as waste. However, Derrick van Der Merwe, his colleague, ignored his request placed them on the floor despite clear indication (meat color and foul smell) that the meat was not fit for sale or consumption. The actions of Derrick clearly demonstrate no respect for customers and a willingness to maximise profits at the expense of customers' health.
I hope appropriate action is taken to address Derrick's actions. All customers who bought this chicken without noticing what I did could be at risk because of his actions.
