Sell by date passed

I'm very disappointed, I'm a regular shopper at food *****s. Yesterday I went shopping, my 1 year old boy with me. When I get home, I see the sell by date has already passed. Why do food *****s sell old food? Why is it still on the shelves. It's impossible to check every date.
