Don't buy any meat at Food *****s. Here's my story: I live in Westville and shop at Westwood Mall. On either the 22, 23, or 24th of May I bought a whole lot of veggies and a leg of lamb, which was deboned and stringed. I cut up the meat into parcels and found a strange smell but ignored it as the meat looked fresh. Thereafter, I placed the meat in the freezer. On 31 May, I cooked the meat with fresh cabbage which I also purchased at Food *****s. At around 1:30pm, I developed severe cramps that led to diarrhea. At 6am the following morning, I awoke with a fever and extreme nausea followed by a bout of severe vomiting. I collapsed onto the bathroom floor for 15 minutes. Soon after, I called my daughter who's a qualified doctor and she insisted that I hospitalize myself as I was severely hydrated. Sadly, I couldn't heed her advice as I had to report to work the following day. At work the following day, my employer saw my frail condition and asked me to go home and get sufficient rest. On my way home, I consulted my GP who gave me medication and prescribed bedrest. Once I reached home, I took rest. Upon waking up, I had cramps again followed by diarrhea. I decided to a drink Rehidrat which aided the dehydration. I also took Imodium which aided the diarrhea but caused prolonged constipation and discomfort. Being diabetic and hypertensive this traumatic experience has wrecked my body. I complained to the head office and their regional manager Shaun contacted me and made empty promises which he hasn't fulfilled. Raj from Westwood Food *****s also failed to rectify this horrible situation. Till today nothing has been done. During this process, I discovered via Hello Peter that I am not alone. There are a string of complaints against Food *****s products. I intend to pursue legal action.
