Double check the shef prices or pay the price

Food *****s in Glen Marias Kempton Park, had on thier shelf Gnocchi ( Molisana) priced at R16.99 however when rung up at the till was R24.99. Which is R8 more than priced. More and more retail outlets are incorrectly pricing items on the shelf, knowing that consumers are more than likely not to pick up the error or if they do not doing anything about it. The problem here is that the law is very clear on that the display price has to be the correct price. It is in fact ***** to display the incorrect price. Consumers should be able to trust the retailer and not be taken advantage of. I thankfully picked this up before I finalized the transaction. I did request the manager who did come, but at that point the trust had already been broken and thier was no point in even engaging with him. What was he going to do, give the product to me at the shelf price? Only for the next consumer to be taken advantage of ? The question is if its worth my while to continue shopping at Food *****s because I now have to double check every item I purchase there that I am not a victom of *****.
