Disgusted and ************
Date and Time of incident: Saturday, 18 November 2023 @ 12:35 It is with utmost disgust and dismay that I am writing this complaint about your Store Manager (Graeme) at Food *****s Bothasig. I highly recommend that you view the video footage in the store where the occurrence took place at your till point (No.11). On Saturday my fiancé and I noticed that none of the kitchen staff preparing meals used any form of protection (gloves) on their hands while openly preparing food and working on multiple surfaces and machines. There was also no sanitisers that could be seen, and if they were present, we did not see the staff use them. When we were at the till, I asked the supervisor to call the manager as I wanted to question as to why this was. When Graeme (he refused to give me his surname and stated that Head Office knows his name) came down, I approached him and informed him that this issue pertaining to staff not using any form of protection whilst handling surfaces and food was a potential health code violation (The Regulation R638 states: “A food handler must not touch ready to consume non-prepacked foods with his/her bare hands unless it is unavoidable for preparation purposes, in which case food must be handled in accordance with good manufacturing practices.”), he stated that it was not a violation, when I then reaffirmed that it was. He then completely dismissed my concern and said “I will handle it” and began to walk away. If there is no violation, what was he going to “handle”?. I called him unprofessional as I was trying to have a conversation with him, whereby he rep**** “IM not getting into an argument with you”. I had no intention of this, and again called him unprofessional. Then as we were being checked-out by the cashier, he came to stand right near us by the pillar, constantly staring at me as if to intimidate me. I asked him why he was standing there constantly watching us, and he said because you are abusing my staff. If you review the video evidence, you will know that I only asked the supervisor to call the store manager. I was not rude or intimidating to anyone, and he was in fact the one trying to intimidate my fiancé and I. He constantly stared at us, and I found this extremely upsetting and so did my fiancé. I told him he is rude and disrespectful, and I asked him not to stand so close to me. When I approached him as he was being intimidating, he held his hands up as though he was a victim and told me to not approach him, and he accused me again in front of other patrons of being the aggressor. Had he handled my initial query with professionalism and respect, none of this would have occurred, and the very fact that he stood by us the entire time, shows he was trying to be intimidating. As we were about to leave, he looked at us again and mumbled something which I believe (I could not hear so cannot confirm) was disrespectful. I then approached him and asked him to say it again. We were extremely upset by his reaction, his attitude, his unprofessional manner. I know that your company has gotten big now, so losing one customer will mean nothing to you, but if you do not teach your store manager how to handle these types of feedback, he will always have an unprofessional attitude. As a regular, I assure you, I will NOT use your store, and the very fact that your staff (even those preparing food at the counter before the tillpoints) do not wash their hands or use protective wear to safeguard everyone involved (I think you all forget we had a pandemic), then you are going to put your customers at risk. Please, review the footage, because it will show you that we were absolutely not abusive. You will even see Graeme walk away from me before we even finished our conversation. If this is your store representative, and embarrassing us and intimidating us in front of other patrons, then your store is no longer one I will go to. Like I said, youre too big now so losing my business wont matter. As a customer service manager myself, every customer matters to me and my company and this would never be tolerated. Disgusted James
I am happy to do a polygraph exam should one be required to confirm the validity of my complaint. To have been so humiliated and treated like we were is absolutely disgusting.
