A resounding NO to Food *****s Market North Rand Road

Protracted complaint, I know, but I have had enough of Food *****s Market in North Rand Road Boksburg, and their lack of commitment to basic food safety and good customer service. I have had so many problems, I have brought some of them to the attention of several members of management to receive varying degrees of reaction from them. Examples of problems: I purchased bacon, lamb chops and pork chops that were all off. I don't select meat from the selection of fresh meat standing out of refrigeration for sale. The tables the meat is on is supposedly iced but the fresh meat is definitely too warm (going against food safety protocol). I queried the temperature of the meat and the length it had been standing out with a butchery manager and was treated like I was of no concern and had no right to ask any questions, and I could either buy the meat or leave it, he didn't care if it it was safe or not because people would cook it when they got it home to make it safe! Those were his words to me. The selected meat from the fridge I bought was still off so what is happening to it before it is sold? Needless to say, I don't buy meat from them anymore.

I also noticed that soup had been made and was being stored in big pots for sale but not being kept properly heated in Bain Maries or heating pots, so again bad food safety practices being followed.

I bought ice-cream just the other day and when I opened it, I realised that it had obviously previously melted and had been refrozen. I didn't bother taking it back because I am tired of all the problems and total lack of commitment to fix the problems and basic good food safety practices.

These are just 3 instances of bad food safety practices, there are many, many more happening in the store that I will not mention in this review.

I will not be shopping there anytime soon, and recommend that others steer clear if possible.
