Refusal of affidavit for insurance claim
I bought a phone using my wife account Samsung a24 green, because I qualified for Samsung a17 then and wanted a 5G phone last year July, the store did not have a25 or a32 and claimed it would take forever for them to be delivered from other stores.
We decided to take a24 which was the only one at that time using her name/account because she qualified for more credit.
The deposit of R1600 was paid by me since my wife is not working and the amount was deducted from my account and have been paying every month.
By December we were told at work that we won't be able to resume on January due to operational requirements and letters retrenchment letters were issued and on February I claimed for UIF while I'm still unemployed and searching for another job and waiting for company to sort out the investors issues.
I skipped payments for March and on weekend went to evaton plaza Ackermans to claim for insurance since I was told by the sales person when we purchased at President square Vanderbijlpark Ackermans that incase of retrenchment or lost phone foneyami has insurance. Fast forward the phone is blocked I can't access my stuff and I'm being told that it will never happen that insurance takeover because the phone was not on my name. To make matters worse about your staff one agent called during last week and told us to atleast organise half of the original amount he will send us reference number to go and pay which is half of R498 and when we got there we were laughed at and told that we signed the contract and that we should stick to it regardless of our situation.
The question is when the first deposit was done R1600+ R299 for a new phone user using my debit card by the salesperson and being offered that I could only have a24 instore she never told us that in case I needed insurance if phone is not in my name I won't get helped.
I feel betrayed and unfairly treated or **** to. Can this matter please be referred to someone who can assist as I need important documents on that locked phone and still awaiting the UIF payments. How can she provide UI-19 forms when she wasn't the one working?
