False advertising, uncertified electrician, damage to my property, unwillingness to resolve and you’ll need a lawyer.
I paid FMSolar their prescribed 800% deposit for a solar system advertised on FaceBook. It was advertised to include a battery with a 10 year warranty.
FMSolar installed a battery with just a 5 year warranty however, and tried to conceil it from me.
Also, FMSolar managed to create an electrical surge whilst rewiring the electrical distribution board, causing more than R50K of damage to my home appliances. Damages included air-conditioning units, a water tank pump, garage door motor, dishwasher and a almost new oven.
On closer inspection I found that the individual who issued the electric CoC was not the one who rewired my home’s electrical distribution board. The CoC issued by FMSolar was therefore not legitimate.
I reached out to the director of the company. He initially promised to resolve the matter, but just a day later refused to take my calls or respond to emails.
I’ve had to call on a lawyer. You’d be a fool to let FMSolar anywhere near your home.

For readers here I wish to add that FMSolar has threatened me with a case of defamation if I do not retract this positing on HelloPeter.
I’m not going to retract this posting.
The very purpose of this forum is to share personal experiences, provided one is accurate and truthful. I’ve done so in the spirit of this website. FMSolar have the right to respond here.
My posting stands. I was a fool to entrust FMSolar to supply and install the advertised items which I paid for. I was a fool to believe that the installation would be done by certified individuals. And I was a fool to believe that no damage to my appliances would occur.
Lastly, I was a fool to believe that FMSolar’s directors would do the right thing and remediate.
I’ve had to call on the services of a lawyer instead.
This has been my experience. I’ve no way to know if your experience will be the same… or any different.

As you failed to disclose the entire situation, we will now go back to the facts and truth (again) and present it on this platform that you have chosen for us to respond to.
- FM Solar’s Director did NOT refuse to take any of your calls or respond to emails.
- FM Solar did NOT conceal any facts from you and you HAVE been provided with a battery system that carries a 10-year warranty.
- FM Solar did NOT create an electrical surge whilst rewiring your appliances. As stated in previous correspondence, the items as described that were damaged, do NOT connect to the inverter system at all and thus could NEVER have caused such damage.
- Your dishwasher’s power cable was damaged by rats PRIOR to the install – which WAS pointed out to you beforehand.
- The Electrical report from the Electrician also states and confirms that the DB Board which our electricians worked on, could NOT cause an electrical surge.
- All COCs issued by FM Solar ARE done by Registered Electricians who are qualified and registered in accordance with Regulation 7(1) of the Electrical Regulations of 2009 with a valid Wireman’s License, thus, our COCs ARE legitimate.
- FM Solar did NOT threaten you. You came with lawyers and we responded professionally with lawyers.
Anyone, who has read the above can understand that you have firstly, not been accurate or truthful as you so have claimed and would rather wrongfully bad-mouth a company without considering all the facts, truth and evidence you have.

To make matters worse, FMSolar has now threatened to report me to the Credit Bureaus for withholding a 20% final payment.
FMSolar is choosing to do so despite knowing full well that the value of the damages which they have caused to my home exceed the 20% by a notable degree. A full account of the damages has been with FMSolar for weeks now. The account does show the 20% final payment as a credit against the damages.
It is clear that FMSolar do not wish to remediate the mess they've made in a prompt and amicable fashion.
Common sense and sanity are not prevailing here.
I promise to share the outcomes here once this matter is settled... warts and all.
