Urgent Complaint Regarding Flight Experience with FLYSAFAIR on 05/05/2024
Our experience with FLYSAFAIR on 05/05/2024 was incredibly disappointing. Despite arriving at the airport promptly at 5:00 a.m. for our 05:20 boarding time and completing online check-in with only one bag to check, we encountered significant delays at the check-in counter. Despite the posted boarding gate closure time of 05:35, we were informed at 05:18 that our flight had departed without us.
We were directed to ticket sales to purchase standby tickets for R600, only to be told to return at 06:20 to check for potential openings on later flights. This process repeated twice more until we were left stranded without available flights. It was baffling to witness others experiencing similar predicaments with no resolution in sight.
In desperation to reach our destination, I sought alternative options and managed to secure a Cemair flight for R4023, leaving my husband behind as all other airline options for the day were reportedly fully booked.
Subsequently, it became evident that FLYSAFAIR had overbooked flights, leading to chaos and financial strain for affected passengers. Despite our attempts to seek a refund, we incurred substantial expenses totaling +R12,600 for our return trip to JNB and new tickets with another airline.
Our dissatisfaction extends not only to the airline's operational failures but also to the lack of empathy and assistance from staff. The absence of managerial presence further compounded our frustration.
This experience with FLYSAFAIR has been unparalleled in its incompetence and disregard for customer well-being. We've since learned of similar incidents from other passengers, indicating a systemic issue with the airline.
We seek resolution and accountability from FLYSAFAIR for the distress and financial burden imposed upon us.
