Unreasonable service with a reasonable request, means little or no consideration for a company that serves the public. for me as a client
During the last week of July I booked a flight from CPT to Lanseria (one way). I assume due to the strike there were only 2 flights available. The earlier one at an astronomical price of over 3500 and one at 19h50 for about 1450 (so reasonable price) but not cheap for a flight that lands in Lanseria at 22h05. As I saw on August, 1st that the strike ended, I thought it good to see if there are earlier flights available on that route, which there were at decent prices. The reason for wanting to reach Lanseria earlier was for my personal safety and that I was able to arrange transport from family that time of night, which I could not do for a flight that arrives at 22h05 in Lanseria and expect a lady with a small kid to be on the road at say 22h30 plus at night. I proceeded to try and book an earlier flight but was the told by Tsholo (online Safair agent) that I had to pay a penalty of R300 and an additional R57 for choosing that particular flight. I explained that I am 66 years of age, had no way of arranging for someone to fetch me that time of night and felt it to be unfair to charge additional fees whilst the reason to book such a late flight in the first place, was because of affordability. This whilst I was stressed out all week to think of how I would get home safe at 22h30 at night. I understand a penalty under normal circumstances, but after explaining my situation to Thsolo of getting home that late at night is an issue, there were no compassion. I really believe that a good business decision and in order to protect the credibility of ones brand, Safair should over this period, whilst they are resolving internal conflict, TREAT their clients in a more reasonable fashion. Sorry Safair, lost all respect for your brand.
