Unfair treatment at FlySafair

I booked tickets for myself and my 3 months old son on the 14th of June, heading to Johannesburg on the 30th of June at 08:40am. I received an sms on the 29th of June after 22:00pm from FlySafair which stated that a permit or an affidavit is needed in order for us to travel to Johannesburg so this meant I needed to go to the police station first thing in the morning before heading to the airport - I had a tough time at the police station because they were not aware of this. I got to the airport at 08:05 and the flight was leaving at 08:40 - I had already checked in online the previous night so it was only my luggage bag that needed to be checked in but I was told that I'm late so I should either go ahead and board but leave the bags behind or go to customer care and book for the next flight and pay the penalty fee of R300, I couldn't leave the bags behind as I was traveling with my baby - I felt like this practice was purely unfair because I got held up at the police station and there was still 35 minutes before the flight could leave! I can't even begin to describe the emotional pain that I suffered on Wednesday morning and not to mention that I ended up spending almost R1000 extra (the R300 for the penalty fee, R250+ for an Uber to take me back home and another R250+ to go back to the airport later that day). I've been using FlySafair since 2018 when I moved to Gauteng and I've never had any issues before until this incident that took place on Wednesday. I went back to the airport later on Wednesday as I was on standby for the flight at 15:40pm and what ****ed me off was the fact that they didn't even request the permits/affidavits - I wasted my time for nothing and this costed me a R1000 extra! I'm really not happy at all and I don't think I'll ever use FlySafair ever again.

Thank you, Xoli - ***
