Theft from hand luggage - FlySafair

I took Flight FA294 from Jhb to Cpt on 17Apr at 10:15am. My kids and I were booked on emergency seats which when we checked in at the bag drop counter we were not told that it is a problem. When we were boarding our flight, we were told that kids are not allowed in emergency seats. It was a scuffle to now swop us with other people's seats. We ended up boarding late and we were told that there is no place for our hand luggage and it had to be checked. It happened so fast and it was a rush to get us in, that my hand luggage was not locked as I assumed I would have it with me at all times. My jewelry bag from my hand luggage was ****** by, I assume, whoever handled our bags. It was kept in the front compartment of my hand luggage. I am very disappointed as I had some expensive jewelry in that bag and some sentimental pieces. I hope that staff can be vetted better and security be stricter. There is no confidence in the safety of our belongings on flights.
