Sies SafAir
On September 8th I was scheduled to fly with SafAir, on the way to the airport received a text saying our flight is 3 hours delayed.
Arriving at the airport I let the check in staff know that we have an International flight leaving at 7:30pm and they would need to move us to another flight as we would miss our flight to Canada.
We were redirected to the service desk where - no apology was given - no understanding or care about this very expensive flight potentially being missed -the associate basically told me to take it up with heaf office and they were just a carrier - advised to put my name on a standby list which the agent said he doubted we would get on - when asked if priority was given to these situations, I got a shoulder shrug - eventually got told by flight controller we can be booked onto a 4pm flight - this flight left late at 4:35, my son and I had to race and then beg to be let onto our Canadian flight - R80 voucher which is meant to be for the inconvenience wasn't accepted by any of 3 restaurants we tried, nor later on the actual plane - email sent detailing all this. No response as of yet almost a month later
Fast forward to October 5th - No flights available from JHB - CPT - By checking every few minutes I manage to book 2 seperate flights for my son and I. Speaking to the flight controller she advised they had almost 20pax on standby, some from, the previous day. While I am happy we got to book those flights, I did feel sorey for those poor souls sitting at the Airport, waiting to get home and SafAir still selling off cancelled tickets. Where is the humanity and the care for your customers?
Then on my flight after being at the airport all day closing my eyes to just rest for 2 hours, the flight hostess parks the trolley next to our row of seats, and complains constantly for 20 mins in Afrikaans about the customers she is serving, possibly forgetting that many of her customers understand and speak the language . This seemed to stem from the trolley not having change, which seems very short sighted if you are only taking cash or credit cards.
This same hostess was extremely *****ly and condescending when assisting us with disembarking.
We were thanked for choosing SafAir, honestly it was out of neccesity. It seems that now that SafAir is one of the only flights available, they are upping their prices, and forgetting that they are serving real people with feelings and lives and problems. Empathy, understanding and caring goes a long way and none of these qualities were present in any staff members dealt with.
